I just wanted to pass this along. I have been using a mouse and keyboard to control Flight Gear for the last few years. Recently, I purchased a new Logitech Attack 3 and began flying some of my favorite aircraft. Aside from the learning curve associated with using a new control device I discovered that some aircraft will do some 'strange things' while using the joystick that they did not do when using the mouse.

After a lot of experimentation and after installing the latest drivers and software to support the joystick (and switching back and forth between mouse and joystick) I have discovered that the joystick is simply not reliable with all Flight Gear aircraft.
It causes control/spin problems during aerobatics that are not a function of calibration or lack of familiarity with controlling the aircraft via joystick. It simply makes some aircraft unstable (in terms of flight characteristics) in Flight Gear. Some aircraft just plain 'get wierd' and recover if the joystick is unplugged and control is resumed with the mouse. In most cases everything seems fine as long as the aircraft is flying straight and level or performing routine controlled flight. It seems to only pop up at the times when the flight envelope is being pushed a bit.

Just a word of warning as this joystick is touted as being compatible with Flight Gear and, in some circumstances, it clearly does not seem to be. Not a complaint nor am I unhappy nor dis satisfied.
My OS is Windows XP and I'm running Flight Gear version 1.0.0 on a 2.4 Gig Pentium 4 with 1 gig of RAM and an ATI graphics card.
