Operator Synth Ableton Download
As I purchased and installed the Ableton Live 8 Suite package - which includes Operator as an instrument - getting started was as easy as waiting for Live to be done and opening an instance of the synthesizer. Unlike some more complex synthesizers, Operator is an easy to use 4 oscillator deal with graphic ADSR envelopes that allows for. Operator is a FM synth while Serum is a wavetable synth. Check out Tom Cosm's videos on Ableton, he is a pro at Operator. I personally love both but prefer FM synth, both are fantastic. I'd stick with Operator and buy Serum later. That said, I've made some really cool tracks based on sounds I created that I wouldn't have used otherwise. I think it's important to make your own synths as well as use presets. Max for Live is a whole other kettle of fish, and difficult to build your own synths in, but there are plenty of great M4L synths available as Ableton Packs. One I've had my eye on lately is Max for Cats' Bengal. It's like an expanded semi-modular Operator with built in effects, sequencers and function generators. The Operator Tuning section does not include the conventional Octave/Semi controls but instead have the Coarse and Fine controls which are tuning controls that you can find on FM synths.
